Obituary
Rita Rose O’Reilly, 93, died Friday, December 13, 2013 at Sunrise Senior Living Community in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Rita Rose was born June 22, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to James J. and Anna Burns Callaghan. Raised on the south side of Chicago, Rita graduated from Chicago Mercy High School in 1938 and married Curtis Michael O’Reilly on October 20, 1945 at St. Joachim’s Church. Friends and family describe Rita Rose as a classic daughter of both the roaring 1920s, and the depression years of the 1930s. She lived to see her husband go to two wars and raised a large Irish-Catholic family in Palos Park, Illinois; frequently becoming a maternal figure to those outside her immediate family. A faithful member of the Catholic Church, Rita Rose is fondly remembered as the steadfast matriarch of the O’Reilly family; each summer uniting her large family together in Montague, Michigan where frequently upwards of 25 people would excitedly cram into the 4-bedroom, one-bathroom farmhouse. Rita Rose is survived by her four children, Michele O’Reilly Studl, Patricia (Clark) Jensen, Gail Eick, Rita K. O’Reilly (Kim Goodwin) and James O’Reilly (Ellen Markham); 16 grandchildren, Wayne Eick Jr., Anne Skinner, Dennis Eick, Joshua Studl, Erica (Dave) Isaacson, Christopher Jensen, Hilary Jensen, Reilly Goodwin, Shaina Goodwin, Abby O’Reilly, Connor O’Reilly, Callaghan O’Reilly, Liam O’Reilly, Shea O’Reilly, Nicholas O’Reilly (d.), Katelyn O’Reilly and one great-grandchild, Maeve Isaacson. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation Wednesday, December 18 4-8 P.M.
